Calling all Table Football (and Subbuteo) enthusiasts!

We recently completed a very thorough research and evaluation programme involving 120 footballers, coaches and fans of all ages.

They were specifically asked to review our new game(in writing) and in particular to compare it with Subbuteo and other similar games played with a real ball. The results were pretty conclusive in our favour, with just four players preferring Subbuteo!

Quite naturally, in view of the enthusiastic plaudits being received (some players even describing it as addictive) we were puzzled.

Upon investigation, we discovered that despite printed warnings not to, these guys played it on the floor. In view of the pace at which the game should be played, requiring quick movement around the table, this was not in our opinion a fair trial (so you can forget we mentioned those four minor hiccups!).

Why not play it for yourself? In many cases it will become a family friend for life (that is providing you don’t play it on the floor!)

It’s easy to play, based on skilful, accurate passing and intelligent off-the-ball movement, no frustratingly difficult ‘spinning’ or ‘shoving’ the man in order to get to the ball. Football-wise it’s educational, it’s realistic, fast moving with lots of exciting goal-mouth action, goalkeeping skills, disciplined defensive play, shooting (easy to raise the ball). Crossing the ball in the air, tackling, fouls, free-kicks, penalties, throw-ins, corners, offsides, shirt pulling….? Err… no… (but we’re working on that one).

As you will have seen from the above, the feedback received has been very positive indeed. We must emphasise here that in the main, everyone involved was a ‘football person’, several with many years experience in Association Football. Such people love their sport, therefore they are genuine in their views on that subject. So with respect, we hope that those views will warrant serious consideration.

Most young players have known only computer generated football games, so this is something entirely new to them. Real footballing situations continually occur and need to be addressed in a realistic manner.

There are many things that young players can do in this game, however, one thing they cannot do is to slouch on the settee, fiddling with tiny buttons and joysticks where the only thing being exercised is their fingers! It also burns calories and adrenalin, not electricity. From a parents point of view that can’t be bad!
